World Tour Campaign from 1973 to Present

Postby Kashogi8 » 23 Sep 2026, 01:36

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to play a World Tour save starting at the earliest stage (1973) and continuing until the future. I know that in world tour a player can only play for 25 years, but I think it would be cool if I could pick different players throughout time, for example play as Borg in the 80s and then switch to Agassi to Federer etc. Then I'd be able to play a whole history and keep records throughout time. I noticed that I can export the rankings in World Tour to a csv and I was also wondering if that can be used at all. Thank you

You can increase the MaxYear for World Tour mode in your Tennis.ini (or XKT.ini, if you're using XKT) file.

See this thread: topic11-31564.php (the question was asked in the TEM2 forum, but I think it applies to TE4 as well)

The player(s) that you start coaching will eventually become too old to play, but you can choose to play the matches of any other players as your World Tour progresses. Just don't retire your own player, as I believe that will automatically end the game. As far as I'm aware, your player will just age indefinitely, allowing you to continue for as long as you want, subject to the memory/total player limits stated by Manu in the above-linked thread.

Manu - I'm assuming the same limits still apply, and that this works for TE4 as well as TEM2?

I'm currently planning a fictional tour that will last for more than 100 years.

holt77,
Yes, it works in the same way in both games.

Kashogi8,
if you get TEM2 in addition to TE4, you'll be able to hire additional players ; and you can tweak your Tennis.ini to get their contracts to last more than 1 year.

Hi Manu,

Just a couple of quick question about this.

1) If I'm planning an extra long World Tour (100+ years), is it better to do this with TEM2 added? With TEM2 added, can you just keep hiring new players for as long as the World Tour lasts, even if that's more than 100 years?

2) If I wanted to play a 100+ year World Tour without adding TEM2, I know you've said before that it's possible to carry on playing the game well beyond your player's natural retirement age, but does it ever reach a point where the player will expire and the game ends, or do they just keep ageing indefinitely, even up to 100+ years?

3) Am I right in thinking that the main limit to long-term play is the player limit of 36,000?

holt77,
1) Yes

2) Without TEM2, IIRC, your player's physical skills will go down faster as he gets older, but turning off or down Skill Decay should do the trick.

3) Yes, but it's 32'000.

Thank you, that's good to know. To be honest, when my own player reaches 40, I'll probably be happy just playing occasional matches with any player, rather than having my own player to train. I'm just aware that if my own player actually retires, the game ends.

I just wasn't sure if there was a hard limit to the number of years your player will just remain in the game if you don't retire him. Does he die at any point, or will he live to 100+?

In saying that, it sounds like adding TEM2 will be a safer option for a long-term World Tour.

That's good to know. My aim is to have 1,200 active players at any given time, so that limit should even allow me to go beyond 200 years if I wanted.

No, I didn't simulate your main player dying. :blackeye:
