Connectivity issues and high ping with Latin American player

Postby popidc » 28 Feb 2026, 17:53

Hello,
We organize matches between European and Latin American players. In most cases, we face the same issue: the ping exceeds 200ms. This latency completely changes the timing of the shots; with a ping over 200, simply holding the joystick for more than a second results in the ball going out of bounds.
However, the high latency isn't even the worst part. Many matches suffer from constant stuttering or, even worse, permanent desync, which makes the game unplayable.
Is there any way to improve this? In my case, when I act as the host, I've tried setting my PS5 in the DMZ to open all ports and setting the "anti-lag" to 250. This seems to reduce the stuttering slightly, but I'm not sure if there’s anything else that can be done to lower the ping or stabilize the connection.

200ms is perfectly playable, just set 150 delay and it should be perfectly smooth

Probably one of you is also playing with WiFi if you get so many stutters, as Barboza said you can also set delay manually (if you’ve ever seen my yt guide “how to play te4 online” I explain how to set up delay manually for optimal experience and gameplay) so yeah up to even 250-270 ping is playable

In your video, you recommend setting the anti-lag to 'Auto' or, if the connection is very stable, slightly below the auto-delay. In my case, if I have a steady ping of around 220–230ms, would you recommend setting it to 210ms, for example? Is it better to set it below the actual ping rather than above it?

210 is way too much, auto for 220 is around 200 by default so you can go down two levels from there if the ping variety isn’t bigger than 10-15, so in this case 167 delay would work very very good

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to pass this info along and test it out to see if it improves the match quality. I'll make sure to share the feedback here in case it helps anyone else
